Good Evening all,
I'm doing my degree project on the Space Shuttle, i'm writing the code (make believe code) to simulate certain systems aboard the space shuttle and how they would react in certain circumstances, i.e. if a certain part of the shuttle reaches a certain temperature, that sort of thing. Well can anyone recommend a detailed manual for the space shuttle? something a bit 'meaty' or more technical? Hope someone can help Regards Dave |

"Space Shuttle" itself is a great overview, but my guess is not quite detailed enough for what you want. Hope someone can help Regards Dave |

Dave,
For reentry, you might try "Space Shuttle Entry Handbook" by Thomas C. Ramey, Copyright 1990. The ISBN is 0-929189-10-8 (softcover) and 0-929189-11-6 (hardcover). In the acknowledgements it states that it is based on NASA Entry Flight Procedures Handbook, Revision B, a NASA training document dated January 23 1984. I found the book to be a little humbling . . . thinking that a new shuttle pilot has to know this stuff pretty cold and this is only one aspect of any mission. Best of luck . . . John |
