The populace has spoken.

They prefer their fundamental right to free speech
over your pathetic fantasies of corporate fascism.

Or are you just too dumb to use a filter file?

As I noted over at s.s.h, earlier, Usenet is dying.

It isn't dead yet, but it is certainly choking on the
troll and psyco far-off-topic posts that push out the
still useful messages made by still thoughtful people.
Recently, good alternative space discussion boards -
easier to use than Google's Usenet access - have
become available that squash the babble, though some
do it with an iron fist in a way that can be a bit unnerving.
(On one board, one off-topic post (as judged by one person
who probably doesn't live in your country even) can get you
banned for life by ISP number.) These are gradually
attracting more and more of the "thoughtful" people. But
I think they will continue to visit Usenet occasionally for
the very reason they hate it sometimes. Unfettered freedom.

What happened is politics, spam, people who know others are out to get them
etc...

crossposting, more retards^H^H^H^H^ "regular joes" online, easier
newsreaders have all contributed to Usenet's decline. Did I mention the
crossposting? We live in a time where every day is Black Tuesday.

These NGs, especially sci.space.policy and s.s.tech have been an
incredible education for me. I've read them for the past 14 or so
years. I've learned so much from Henry, George Herbert, Henry V, Ed,
Rand and all the old-timers on this board. Thank you, gentlemen, and
Mary Schaefer. Also, seeing the mid-90s entrepreneurs develop out of
SSP was incredible: G. Hudson/Roton and J. Benson/Spacedev were very
open about their development on these boards.

USEnet's signal-noise ratio has dropped off precipitously over the past
few years. I still lurk here, but mostly post to the space.com boards
and slashdot (not THAT much better)...

usenet is still a great place for answers. The spambots and
tinfoil-hatters (the modern mad-hatter) are annoying but don't quite
cripple it.

Again, thanks for all the discussions and advice in the past.

Agreed!
With bells on!
Oh for a working usenet death penalty.
