I remember seeing the movie The Reluctant Astronaut as a child. I remember
a scene where his character is standing in front of a large computer with a
reel-to-reel tape drive and he somehow gets the peanut butter from his
astronaut food into the tape and, of course, it jams up the tape drive and
computer.

Sad to see him go, but it sounds like he lived a full and successful life.

most definitely. They even played at NEARFest (the marquee Prog festival in
the US) a couple years ago.

But be prepared, the bands that are now called "Prog" are units like Mars
Volta, Coheed and Cambria, and Tool. Good, but imho they've got a lot more
in common with Nickelback than with Yes.

....Provided I get the time, tomorrow's OMBlog will have an obit for
Don, as well as a major announcement regarding a certain exhibit at
Space Center Disney that I apparently had something to do with it's
being seriously revamped in the past two months. No pictures, as I was
really pressed for time while I was in Houstopolis, but next month's
all set for it. I'll show you the goods As Soon as i Take the
Pictures.

Ya I grew up with Don Knotts too. That movie was the first thing
that crossed my mind when I heard. One of the scenes I remember most
is the rocket ride and the girl he wanted to impress.

Roy Fleming: [as Mr. Spaceman, operating the Rocket Ride]
We are starting our retro-rockets
countdown: five, four, three, two, one, firing
retro rockets!
[presses button making rocket sound]

Roy Fleming: We will be touching down in twenty minutes.

Mary: [whispering] I have to go to the bathroom.

Roy Fleming: We have just touched down!
