Default LX90 with GPS - import from the US?

Was about to purchase a LX90 in the uk, but will be going to the US in
a few months time.

Is there anything to stop me purchasing the new LX90 with GPS;

8" = £1085
10" = £1428

approx.

Would I be able to use it in the UK without any problems???

Just need to get it through customs!!

I think the main issue would be the lack of a manufacturer's warranty in
case there were any problems. However, if you were willing to forgoe this
and pay for any repairs yourself, then there's no reason not to import one.
Shipping will be quite expensive and Customs may well nail you for VAT and
import duty - it's a little too big to stick in your carry on baggage !

As long as you pay the VAT then you shouldn't have any problems.
However, you might want to check with Meade first to see if they will
honour a warranty on a 'scope that has travelled out of the country from
which it was bought. Also, they 'scopes weigh an absolute tonne, and god
knows what the baggage handlers would do to it!

Meade are notorious for their strange pricing, with the 'scopes in the
USA always being cheaper than the EU (and several countries in the EU
being cheaper than others e.g. Germany being ~ €100 cheaper than Austria
leaps to mind).

Good luck,

Hi,

I'm pretty sure you'll have trouble with the warantee on the scope,
Meade like to keep their prices in the EU artificially high and take a
dim view of this sort of thing!
