Default Lunar Halo with Mars

Dear Friends,

After stepping outside last night to examine the potential for some work
related to the evening sky, I regrettably encountered some wispy
clouds to go along with the cold temperatures. Of course, this was the
perfect recipe for the 22-degree halo of the nearly full moon (with
Mars!) which was captured and is available for perusal he

Clear skies!

Anthony.

We had a similar halo around the moon two days ago when Mars was very close by. I had a couple of co-workers ask me about it the next day and i got to explain to them a bit about ice crystals and halos. ;-)

Veijo,

There will be lots of opportunities including occultations involving the
Pleiades over the next few weeks. It will certainly be exciting.
