Minutes after Fincke stepped outside, Moscow ground controllers asked him to
get back in, due to unusual O2 consumption. They spent about an hour in the airlock trying to fix the problem. As I type this, they are about to re-open the hatch between Pirs and the station. Next spacewalk attempt might happen on June 29th. |

June 29 is a "no earlier than" date.
*Seems* it was a problem with an injector valve/switch not having been fully locked into desired opsition by Fincke. Crew wishes to return to normal sleep cycle ASAP and then switch back (seems strange for just 5-6 days). This mroning, they are to be woken up at 12:00 GMT (noon). This may have been shortest EVA on record. (less than 17 minutes in official EVA time). Fincke was not in danger. Pressure in suit was fully maintained and he did not have to activate reserve bottle. He thanked Moscow controllers for having spotted the higher than normal O2 flow rate from the main botte so soon. |
