Does this mean they're not going to be done, or are they TBD? You'd better hope they're going to be done! Prepare yourself for a seat-of-the-pants reentry, since NASA and USA got by with a seat-of-the-pants launch. On an optimistic note, never fear; Eileen is here. Don't forget about that guy from Burlington, Iowa, either; and Steve Robinson should be no slouch as a flight engineer. I'm sure they've all been rehearsing a manual reentry for mucho months, and they seem eager for the challenge. May God be their copilot. Challenger's Ghost |

Bruce... the second and third roll reversals are always done, but the specific roll angles are not ever enumerated specifically on the DOL PAD (Deorbit/Landing Preliminary Advisory Data, for those of you wanting to know the acronym). Contrary to any resident conspiracy kook fantasies, this is nothing new or different... Roger -- Roger Balettie former Flight Dynamics Officer Space Shuttle Mission Control http://www.balettie.com/ |

It seems like only yesterday that he was speaking for "anyone," rather than 'any one.' Given his over-active imagination, and George Herbert's use of "verifyable" in the same context with "insane," one might wonder why they don't take a remedial course in Communications Skills 101. I guess one should expect to hear them defended by old trash-talking Bob Mosley, though. He jumped ship from history to shuttle long enough to nip a good on-topic thread in the bud. I sure don't miss these video game ex-spurts when they're gone. Challenger's Ghost |

In that case, you've just demonstrated more than simply that your killfile filtering is a sham. You've shown us that your dues are fully paid for life membership in Bob Mosley's Human O-Ring Society (HORS). Challenger's Ghost |

Bruce... the second and third roll reversals are always done, but the specific roll angles are not ever enumerated specifically on the DOL PAD As you know, "always" and "not ever" require rigorous proof. If you have such proof, you should show it -- beginning with STS-1 and ending with STS-107. (You can skip Mission 51-L.) Thank you, Roger. For what, failing to answer your question concerning "TBD?" Since the DOL info is only preliminary, yet *advisory*, what's the problem does NASA's PAO (or Roger) have with providing an early estimate of these roll angles? The FAQ gives only a very vague idea of what they should be: http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/groundtracs/dol_pad_faq.html Shouldn't you expect more from an erudite (tongue in cheek, emphasis on 'rud[e]') "former FDO?"
