Pardon my utter ignorance, but this K index

affects people in what way? Is it a health issue,
or does it impair electronic communication?
Perhaps you could enlighten me, an URL or two
would get me started. Thank you..

The following give some estimate of what latitudes aurora can be seen

So that aurora where Anthony reported seeing it in Athens (Geomagnetic
lat = 32 deg) was Kp of 17??

kp8 and kp9 are often good indicators of *possible* auroral
activity that far south.

Look fella..most people just don't care if there is auroral activity. And
if they did , they would
have there own way of finding out already. This constant harping of yours
about K indexes
is really quite bland and tiresome. I can't even begin to imagine the brain
behind all these
"warnings" constantly. What a joke.

They aren't "warnings", they are advisories. And I, for one, am happy
that someone is posting them here. Auroras are rare at my latitude, and
I don't regularly monitor solar activity. It is nice that somebody is
doing just that and putting these notices up when things get
interesting. Observing auroras and solar activity falls completely
within the charter of this group- what's your problem? Would you bitch
if somebody posted that an interesting asteroid was approaching? An
unusual positioning of Jupiter's moons? A meteor shower? (Everyone has
there own way of finding these things out, after all.)

Why don't you just STFU, punk? Thanks to Sam's kindly advisories I saw
the November 2003 aurora here in Texas that I might have overlooked
otherwise.

Thanks much and again for the advisories, Sam. Please feel free to keep
'em coming, and know that you are appreciated.
