Reminder.

This is an Astronomy forum, NOT a Mac versus Windows/PC forum. Or an I
hate America forum. Or an ain't I cute forum. Or a religious (for or
against) forum. Or a political (liberals versus conservatives) forum. Or
an I hate George Bush forum. And it isn't a wouldn't it be GREAT if the
inventor of the Internet had been allowed to be sworn in as President
instead of the guy he beat, sore losers forum... This is SAA. Not ANY of
those things.

But, over and over, and over and over, and OVER, it's the same windbags
spouting the same off-topic crap. Until LONG after the cows came home...

STOP IT.

For a significant percentage of these folks, taking the time to say this
won't mean anything. These folks have long been in my killfile, because
they're really about something else, rather than amateur astronomy. It's
called SEE ME.

But it would sure be nice to see other, more sane folks, just ONCE, ignore
these off-topic posts. If EVERYONE would ignore them, the perps would
eventually go somewhere else to preen their egos...

Yup, unfortunately my "do you own an apo and a mac or a pc and a sct?"
thread didn't really start. Sorry about that...

Hmmm, as I recall, Jan, you spent quite some time "spouting off" at me a few
months back regarding the Atkins diet simply because someone was attacking
the diet plan based on my signature line. Was I supposed to just sit back
and take it or defend it? I chose the latter. BTW, my original post at
that time had nothing to do with Atkins so I wasn't the one going OT *until*
attacked.

Oh well, such is life.....

Yes indeed. Everytime I run across the themes you mentioned, I remember what
happened to SA.

Thanks for the post.

That is a fine suggestion Mr. Owen. As I was saying to my wife the other
night during the Oscars, one of the MAJOR problems in America today,
other than Chris Rock hosting the Academy Awards, is the general
driftiness of the American Mind...it's inability to stay on topic. It's
like a trip to the zoo. You ARE there for the big cats. Period. Not to
mention Johnny Depp was the most deserving. So, why waste time in the
monkey house? Same thing here...it's eyepieces, focal lengths, space.
=A0By the way, do you use a mac? I'm thinking of getting a computer so
I can experience those worms and bacteria. Up front. Thanks, and night
sky!

On that subject, no.

The computer is as much a tool of amateur astronomy as the telescope
these days. Discussions about computer technology ARE topical. Yes, they
sometimes get a bit out of hand, but so do discussions along the lines
of refractor vs. reflector or goto vs. starhopping.

The ongoing Mac discussion is contained in one thread (with a near miss
on another). How hard can it be to avoid the discussion if you aren't
interested?

They often start out as an astronomical tool discussion, but within one or
two responses they invariably deteriorate into nothing more than squabbles
about which is the better operating system, and/or which offers better
protection against predators, and in that context, they almost NEVER stay
true to their subject headers...

Right.

You didn't START your thread off topic. But you wouldn't return to topic
once it went astray, which was right away. That was caused by your sig,
as I recall...

Simple as that.

Wouldn't you if someone was posting misleading information? I guess not.
Anyway, you are a "hothead" Jan who has a hard time controlling his temper.
IMO, you need some anger management therapy.

Simple as that and I'm done responding...

Goodbye!

I took my kids and my Dad to the Sonoran Desert Museum today. They were
there for the big cats. I was there for the flowers, plants and birds.
I need to learn more about desert vegetation. I love to garden. This
barren landscape is filling in quite nicely.(BIG WINK) Also, I have a
pair of nesting Golden Eagles close by and needed to talk "bird" with
the "birdman."

Sunday we went to Kitt Peak. AZ86 all ablaze with purple, orange and
yellow. We tried to find my home with my Oberwerk 15x70's, but were
unable to do so. Kids were bored. Dad and I had a great time.
