Skylab lands in Australia.


I remember as a kid at the time regarding the uncertainty of where it was
going to re-enter and land. I seem to recall the Aussies not being too
happy about it after!

I think that everybody was a bit queasy about that lead film vault coming their way.
Did anyone do a complete list of damage caused by the break-up of Columbia? I remember somebody had a piece of it come into their office through the ceiling.
I'm still waiting for "The Frisbee From Hell" -Hubble's mirror- to come flying out of the sky.

I remember most the American news reporting that Kalgoorlie (the nearest
large town to the debris trail) was "2000 miles west of Sydney". Which is
true, but not very informative. Plus the WA government slapped Uncle Sam
with the statutory $400 fine for littering.

My primary school scored a sliver of gold foil (from an oxygen tank) encased
in a plastic block.

The reporter must have worked for Microsoft tech support at one time.
