This being December 24, 2003, 35 years to the day Apollo 8 orbited the
Moon -- the first men ever to see Earthrise -- it is only appropriate that
the second most famous Lunar Address be part of the Internet tonight. (Only
the first words from the Moon: "Houston: the Eagle has landed!" And
Armstrong's "That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind!"
are slightly greater, and that only due to chronology.

That was the most meaningful Christmas eve I can remember from my youth.
I drifted off to sleep thinking about the Apollo-8 crew orbiting the
moon. It was a magical time.
