Default Lunatic Theory about Planet Allignment

A lunatic friend of mine says there is a RARE (happens every 2600
years) configuration of:

1. The inner planets alligning between the earth and sun
2. The earth being at the closest point to the sun and,
3. Jupiter and Saturn et. al. alligning on the other side of the sun;

which will cause the earth to go out of orbit, tornados, earthquakes
etc.

I know about the "Jupiter Effect" and "Harmonic Convergence" years
ago. but;

Is it true that we're going to experience such a "rare" configuration
soon?

Etc.? That's not enough!? Think about what your saying. Must it not be
true that the Earth could only be knocked out of its orbit once? 2600
years later it wouldn't be in its orbit, so such an alignment
_couldn't_ happen again.

I know about the "Jupiter Effect" and "Harmonic Convergence" years

How could you? There was no "Jupiter Effect" or "Harmonic Convergence"
to know about.

Is it true that we're going to experience such a "rare" configuration
soon?

No.

Different "alignments" happen all the time with no correlation to
any events on the Earth, except to thrill human now and then.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about planetary alignment
and how that might effect the earth. Also take a look at:

There are a number of on-line resources you can use to help educate
your friend. For example:

It's absolutely true. The NSA, CIA, NASA, MI5, Scotland Yard, CERN, the
MMT staff and Brownie Troop 105 have tried to keep this quiet, though.

My advice: contact Sir Richard Branson immediately, if not sooner.
Have him move up the launch date for SS1 and pack extra granola bars.

The nearest habitable planet is several million light years away, and
there are no rest stops between here and Calnusatian Galaxy.

Unless you decide to detour onto the Kuiper Beltway, but be advised
that it's going to get bumpy. If you do choose this route, try
Slarnak's Astro Burgers, but order your burgers extra well done.
Phlartavian cattle parasites can survive temps. close to 1500 K.

While you're packing, have your friend double up on the Thorazine, and
don't let him/her near any sharp or shiny objects.

Have a safe trip and please send us a postcard upon arrival.

Ah nuts, I was going to write an answer and work in the SAO scam and
government conspiracy and you beat me to it (I always new the Brownie Troops
were in on this kind of conspiracy).

You should re-read what you just wrote ...

IF such an event "happens every 2600 years"
AND such an event "will cause the earth to go out of orbit"
THEN how is it that we are here talking about it???

The Solar System has been around for roughly 4 Billion years. So . . .

4 Billion / 2600 = 1,538,461.53...

This conjunction (alignment) has already happened over 1.5 Million times.
The Earth is still in its orbit, last time I checked.

And - - we suffer numerous tornados every year
- earthquakes are a weekly, if not daily occurance, though obviously not in
the same place

Suggest to your lunatic friend to find more appropriate thrills
(and a much better education) than scaring the sh*t out of friends
and acquaintances, with utterly absurd nonsense.

Cheers,
Larry G.
