Question #1 after reading CAIB Report

If you have worked for NASA/contractor:
Did you find that is was an accepted practice for people to use vague
PowerPoint charts to prove their points in meetings?

Back in the early-90's Boeing-Huntsville culture, PowerPoint didn't
exist. MacDraw and MacPaint, however, *did* exist. It was corporate
lingo to "Mac up" a bunch of originals to make transparencies from for
presentations and briefing documents.

However, in the instances I made presentations to managers (at the SSF
PDR in 1992 and the CDR in 1993 and several times to the Work Package 1
Chief Engineer) - NOT peers at working group meetings - the charts were
simple and to the point. They basically gave the higher-ups enough to
keep the main ideas in mind in framing their technical grilling - and
they most assuredly WERE grillings. The way Linda Ham "managed" that
key Mission Management Team meeting was not at all how important design
meetings were handled at that time and in that program.
