Default Finder diagonal?

Hi. Our club's 18" has a standard 8x50 finder scope. One of our members would like to use a 90 degree diagonal on it. Question.
What kind of diagonal would work on this finder?

Not exactly sure what a standard 8x50 finder is but given the added path length
required by a diagonal, it seems unlikely that the finder could be brought to
focus without somehow shortening the OTA.

I would think it would be more practical just to purchase a 90 degree finder.
Orion has em for something around $70.
