The RCC is going to have to be changed. Although I guess they could try testing
brand new panels and see if they do any better.

Forget flying any time soon, this will take as long as challenger.

Of course these results elminate the pictures couldnt of seen the probklem.

Any estimates of how long to design and test a new RCC system?

"Redesingn" - A word from the language used by the Swedish Chef character
on The Muppet Show.

Example Use: "Hur de flur, re de singn mit de chickies, bork bork bork."

Hang on a moment, Swedish Cheff, Was it not in Sweden that the japaneses
Shuttle crashed recently?

Did a Swede hit the leading edge or what?

The RCC is going to have to be changed.

Why? That's not clear to me but I'm not an RCC expert.

Forget flying any time soon, this will take as long as challenger.

I note that Admiral Gehman, about a week ago, stated his opinion which
was not consistent with yours.

Shuttles Can Resume Flying Within Months, Columbia Board Chief Says
By Brian Berger, SPACE.com, 25 June 2003

WASHINGTON -- Nothing the Columbia Accident Investigation Board
(CAIB) is likely to recommend should preclude NASA from
launching its next space shuttle by early 2004, board chairman
Harold Gehman said Tuesday.

"I don't see any recommendations that are so difficult to
accomplish that [NASA] should not be able to return to flight
within six to nine months," the retired U.S. Navy admiral told
reporters at a press briefing here.

That was BEFORE we watched a minor foam strike destroy the panel so
effectively.

Like I said since the foam will never be 100% redesigning the RCC is needed.

Otherwise it will be like flying after Challenger without redesigning the
solids and O Rings.
