![]() ........ if they were somehow able to go outside of the known universe? What would they encounter? Probably encounter another Universe. If string theory proves correct what would happen is that you could find yourself on another earth under different conditions. You could find youself in a Universe where you would not survive for very long the physical constants that prevail in our Universe would be different this could cause problems for your chemical and atomic structure. I really doubt you would meet god. You might meet your true self :-) I remember a Star Trek Next Generation episode where Riker and a few of his shipmate where taken from the Enterprise while they were asleep by aliens who lived in another Universe. What the aliens did was create a pocket of our Universe in their own while they experimented on our heros. The aliens were trying to accomplish was a way for them to come into our universe they were a completely different type of life form based on cyanogen. I did not see what difficulties that would cause since cyanogen exists in our Universe in huge amounts. At any rate our heros were tipped off when night after night they were taken in their sleep through sub space into this other realm and they would return exhausted with strange night mares even Whorf the klingon was having problems. Another tip off was a subspace anomoly had develeoped in one of the ships cargo bays where the aliens were trying to rupture sub space to invade our own. Of course Geordi and Data saved the day and Universe and thwarted the plans of the would be invaders by setting up an interferring subspace field to disrupt the anomoly. You people really need to get out more and watch more Star Trek. You know you can purchase the complete DVD's set of STNG only the price of a 31 Nagler. I have both :-) Clear Skies Dwight L Bogan |

As most folks use this word, it means "everything" rendering the OP's question meaningless. Could be that the OP is trolling... are just curious. Within the universe, we are restricted to our observable horizon based on the time light has had to travel since the expansion began. ![]() Well Sam I've been doing the Big Bang scene now since 1968 when the first real data was first collated and the Steady State theorists still had a hold on Cosmology. I think I would listen to Brian Greene I have a gut feeling about Sring theory and that it may have the answers to the really big picture and a very plausable explanation of the Big Bang other than a Quantum Fluctiation in space time. As far as the poster goes if he really is not that idiot min character he does pose a valed question Clear Skies Dwight L Bogan |

Just curious, Dwight (and honestly, I'm not trying to make a point): Is that gut a physicist's gut, or a layman's gut?
