Default Polaris Mount - 12V RA motor source?

I have just acquired an old Vixen Polaris mount off Astromart. I
would like to add a 12V RA motor to this mount to try some piggy back
photography. I am less interested in a control paddle, but this may
be handy too.

Will motors for the Vixen Super Polaris or more recent Great Polaris
mounts work with the original Polaris mount?

What other sources can you recommend for 12V motors for the Polaris
mount?

Thanks,

Gary Weber

You should be able to use the current crop of motors and yes your going
to need a hand control. The motor electronics are in the hand control. A good
source for old oudated equipment can be found here

Of course if you don't like Rothmans prices you can go to Astronomics or
Anacortes Web site and fine what you need. BTW the polaris mounts use stepper
motors. Not AC syncronus motors

Gary, I own a New Polaris mount (I think is like the Polaris) and a Vixen
quartz motor made for this type of mount, but it works at 9V. I bought some
years ago and it performs very pretty (You can see the device in my web
page). I think the Super and Great Polaris work with a different kind of
motor.
