Below is a last call for application submissions for the Astronomical League's
Jack Horkheimer Service Award. Attached is the application form for the award. Please share this information as you see fit. Thanks. Carroll Iorg A.L. Awards Coordinator 2004 Horkheimer Award for Exceptional Service by a Young Astronomer Each year, the Astronomical League presents an award to a young astronomer based upon exceptional service to the League or to a League club. This service can be in the form of educational outreach, observing skills at public star parties or other astronomical areas. Now beginning its seventh year, this award recognizes outstanding League astronomers under the age of 19. The winner will receive a trip to the League’s 2004 convention in Berkeley, California and a check for $1,000. All finalists receive complimentary memberships in the International Dark-Sky Association. In addition Celestron, Inc. will be kindly donating one of its top of the line telescopes to the 1st place Horkheimer Service Award winner. This award is made possible by the generous support of Mr. Jack Horkheimer. The youth service award is established to honor Arthur P. Smith, Jr. Art Smith was the president of the Astronomical League from 1964-66, and he inspired Mr. Horkheimer to become active in astronomy.
