Wonder what it looks like in color? heh heh...
The pyramid shaped rock to the right of it ( with the divot in the side) is
worth a look at as well.
One thing I'm certain of, Mars rocks have some very peculiar morphology....
IMHO

Look at it again davy, given the wide range of grey tone, I doubt the whole
rock is red.

It's quite a leap from "Uh, reddish, maybe," which I wrote, to "the
whole rock is red," which I didn't write. "Reddish," as I use the term,
means "having any or all of a wide variety of shades of red, orange, or
pink."

A "wide range of grey tones" tells us only that the rock is neither jet
black nor pure white. It does not suggest in any fashion whether it is
all red or all blue or all purple or all chartreuse or all sunflower
yellow or rainbow hued.

Besides, my response was T-I-C, based on the fact that much of what of
what I have seen in the color images from mars has been red*dish*.

You are dead wrong on this point. I did 20 yrs of pro lab film
processing of color objects shot on b&w film,, among every thing else, and
I can say with a certainty that the "Humprey" rock is not just all shades of
red, based on the image released. What are your photo credentials?

Chill out. I'm not going to get into a ****ing contest with you over
whether Mars is reddish or not.

What are your photo credentials?

Chill out. I'm not going to get into a ****ing contest with you over
this either, or over anything else, for that matter.

I said "Uh, reddish, maybe?" Try to figure out what that _means_.

Here's a "true color" (attempt anyway) at a scene near Laguna:

http://copperas.com/mercolor/laguna2_cal.jpg

A lot of the rocks have a darker top like Humphrey.

Here's the same scene not calibrated for exposure time at all (L234567
images composite without modification):
