Just came in from the backyard viewing with the 4" f/6... Jupiter, and =
it's 4 Galilean moons all lined up on one side of the planet! I hadn't = even looked at Jupiter for weeks and just by coincidence decided to look = tonight with the almost full moon. Serendipity! ;-) -Florian Palm Springs, Calif. |

Thanks for the heads up, when I got home from work tonight I brought my
daughters 4.5" reflector out and checked it out. Anyone know the names, they were all lined up in an almost perfect row to the right , with the second form the right being the brightest. Not so windy here in Jersey tonight and no precip. |

Those would have been (from Jupiter outward) Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. And, since you're really looking at a mirror image through the telescope, they were actually all on the left of the planet. Jeroen. |

![]() Go to www.cpac.org.uk and download the Planets application. Set it up and use it to track Jupiter and its moons, Saturn, and a few other objects. Pay attention to how you set it up -- for some reason I had to fiddle with it to make it accept my local time -- it kept reversing day and night for me but once it's set up, it is quite useful. -- ---- Joe S.
