Default I saw the LADEE launch!!

I live in Virginia along the Potomac River, about 10 miles upriver
from where Potomac joins the Chesapeake Bay. Wallops is directly East
of me -- 90.5 deg magnetic, 65.7 miles airline, across the Bay and the
Eastern Shore.

Went out on the end of my dock about 2315 and faced East.

Used the Atomic Clock app on my iPhone to monitor the time.

At 2327 the Eastern sky lighted up almost as though the sun was
rising. The rocket rose out of the ball of light on the horizon and
was clearly visible as a long, bright orange object climbing up and
apparently away from me.

I didn't note the time, however, this is what I observed:

-- A few seconds after the rocket rose above the horizon, a glowing
object fell from the rocket and disappeared from view, apparently
burning out. The rocket continued to climb up and away from me.

-- At about 10 deg above the horizon, the rocket must have entered a
humid area as a "fat" contrail appeared, curving into the shape of a
question mark.

-- The rocket's flame continued to be visible, becoming smaller and
more faint until it disappeared from view at 23:32:43.

All observations were with 10X42 binos and naked eye.

One of the most spectacular sights I've ever seen . . . and that
includes sunrise from the top of Fuji (after walking up Fuji at
night); Borobodur at dawn; the Great Wall; the Taj Mahal at sunset;
the Khyber Pass at midnight; and bonfires on the levee south of Baton
Rouge at Christmas.

Remember when teachers and
other public employees
crashed the stock market,
wiped out our 401ks,
destroyed real estate values,
took billions in bailout money,
destroyed the Gulf of Mexico
with crude oil, gave themselves
billions in bonuses,
and paid no taxes?

Remember that?

Funny, neither do I.

I was definitely born stupid, I don't know anything then and I've still
never seen a stupid pill.
Are you the inventor of stupid pills? You seem to know more about them and
flames and burning than anyone else.

Speaking to a guy today. A nice guy.

Said he was listening to George Norris (a successor to Long John Nebel and Art Bell) about how NASA was investigating mysterious lights on the Moon... sort of true, light from static on lunar dust, maybe... and the public wouldn't be told the truth.

Sad.
