Default Bobs Knobs question

Hello Users,

Quick and dirty question: recommended or not.
Any drawbacks? I recently received a C 9,25.

Startest looks good but not quite pefect.

Thanks for input

Reinhold

Quick and dirty answer: YES!

But even if you are satisfied with it, will it stay that way? It will shift
and get worse, and Bob's Knobs make it much easier to collimate. And,
because it is easy with the knobs, you will collimate more often, so you
will get even faster at it. And that means you will get far more out of your
scope. Inadequate collimations ("that's good enough") is the worst enemy of
an SCT.

Absolutely! Since collimation of an SCT should be checked regularly,
and re-done whenever necessary, Bob's Knobs (or one of the ripoffs now
available) are an essential.

Any drawbacks?

Just be careful that the knobs do not press against the front OTA
cover - wouldn't want to place undue strain on the corrector or
secondary assembly.

They were a must on my C11. I got the 9.25 after that and as the secondary
adjustment screws were well inside the cover and up and away from the
corrector plate I didn't see the need. My stubby phillips fit right in there
with not much of a possibility of scratching the corrector. Also the screws
are very close to the edge of the secondary holder on the 9.25, almost
against a wall, so the knobs must be very small in diameter which would make
them hard to get a hold of with your fingers. But for 15 bucks it may be
worth it to you.

I've got them on my C9.25" and would definitely recommend them. In fact, I
liked the Bob's Knobs for the C9.25" better than the ones for the C8 because
the knob part was a bit taller and therefore easier to grasp and turn with the
fingers, as well as feeling more substantial in general. Definitely a
worthwhile purchase for making your scope more convenient to use.

Here's another addition to the chorus of "YES!". I can't abide the
thought of having to do without them -- manufacturers ought to fit such
things as standard.

Best,
Stephen
