Default NexStar 11 GPS PEC Doesn't Work

Hi I forwarded this to this group in the hope of getting Celestron's
attention.

Well we had that alt/az jump for over a year. Celestron didn't fix it
until things got pretty hot on the NexStarGPS group and this group. I'm
just getting into imaging and I'd like PEC to work also. We shouldn't have
to erupt for them to fix something long overdue. It worked fine on my
Ultima 9.25, it should work better on my N11. Please no Celestron
apologists, this is my third Celestron scope and I'm a Celestron fan.
Celestron are you listening?

Sincerely,
Chuck

Hi Nikos,

I have a Nexstar 11 and I'm afraid to say that the current PEC does
not work properly.

You can find loads of info on N11 at the Nexstar Yahoo group :

I can't speak for the Nextar, but I have two mounts that have PEC and
using them does indeed work. Most of the time after pec training I
can let the scope run at the King rate and it will track accurately
enough for several minute exposures with 200mm lens/35mm camera with
little to no guide corrections. I would estimate periodic error of
less than 10 arc sec on average.

is : "does the pec work?" on the nexstars or not yet?????????

Thanks John, I've had wonderful luck with Celestron in terms of support and
this is my third C-scope. It just seems like they've felt very little
pressure to fix the very few, but annoying things that were wrong since the
scope's inception. I will give Mr. Hedrick a call and see if it's in a
planned upgrade and ask him to email at least the NexStarGPS group.

Thanks again,
Chuck

Sorry to be a wet blanket, Chuck, but you would probably do just as
well by shouting expletives at the latest Celestron ad in S&T.

But I come not to chide but rather to offer a potentially more direct
channel.

With all of the assorted ownership and personnel shifts at Celestron, I
cannot be certain he's still there, but try giving Rick Hedrick a call.
He is/was their VP of engineering and is/was most helpful when certain
shortcomings in the original NexStar line were brought to his
attention.

His email address is/was: rhedrick at celestron dot com, and his phone
extension is/was 223 . 1(800) 421-9649.

I have not had occasion to speak with him since '01 so the freshness
dating on this posting may have already expired. Nevertheless, I've
never seen any evidence that either Celestron or Meade are even aware
of s.a.a.

A Celestron rep. *did* subscribe to the nexstar 5 Yahoo group, but
again this was quite some time ago -- eons in Internet years.

Hold their feet to the GLP and good luck!
