I've just enjoyed watching a fantastic Auraura today from ~7:30 PM to just
prior to 8:00 PM EST, when it suddenly faded appreciably. At one point nearly the entire sky to the north and the east of me (both extending nearly to the zenith) were simply ablaze in pink. It may have started much earlier here, but 7:30 PM is when I stepped outside and noticed it. I'm hoping for more. Heading out again. I'm 30 miles west of Cleveland and I was also out from 6:45 to about 7:30
watching the aurora. It was very red and looked like fire reflecting off the bottom of clouds, but there were no clouds in the sky. It covered different parts of the sky from the North, North/East and East all the way to the zenith. Once the red faded, I could still see like a dim white. I was hoping to see different colors, but shades of red was all I saw. I kept go out to see if it would come back, but nothing so far. Dave. I'm 10 Miles east of cleveland and on the lake. I saw what looked like
cirrus clouds from my back yard at about 7:00, but knowing the sky was clear, i went to the lake (a block away) and saw my first aurora. a sheet of red covering a significant portion of the northern horizon. I had to bring the kids home and get them ready for bed at 7:30. By 8:00, there was nothing. Kept looking until around 10:30, but i didn't see anything.
