Saturn is in a particularly starry field. A wide field 40x view is stunning.

Had one of my best views of Saturn a few days ago, under almost perfect
conditions. The planet was razor sharp through the eyepiece, much better
than the photo seen at

http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthrea...turn_moons.jpg

(Still, I'm pretty happy with the shot. It is one of my first semi-serious
attempts to photograph Saturn).

IMAGE DETAILS: Saturn, Titan, Rhea, Dione and Tethys photographed October 20
through an Orion Skyview Pro 127 (5" Maksutov-Cassegrain) with a 10mm
eyepiece.

Saturn shot at 1/4 sec., 19 frames stacked using K3 CCD Tools. Titan, Rhea,
Dione and Tethys exposure is 8 seconds. Nikon Coolpix 990, 200 ISO.
Processing in Adobe Photoshop.

The smallest moon, Tethys, has a radius of only 530 km. Pretty amazing
considering that Saturn is currently 1309 million kilometers from Earth!

Tethys was discovered by Giovanni Cassini in 1684. It is an icy body similar
in nature to Dione and Rhea. It is composed almost entirely of water-ice.
Tethys's icy surface is heavily cratered and contains cracks caused by
faults in the ice. Tethys' surface temperature is -187° C.
