Comet 2P/Encke near M31
A first sight of the faint comet imaged on Oct 24 near M31 with a Canon 10D
and a 300mm f/2.8 lens. Visually it could not be confirmed (at mag 5 sky), seems to be around mag 12. See a widefield image and a 3-part animation at: http://panther-observatory.com/comets.htm#9 Johannes Schedler
