How many Astro-Physics 180EDTs were made in the 1990s?
Thanks, Rich ps I was going to post a "test" message but thought I would post a question I found interesting. |

I'm the second owner of a 180 f/9 AP Starfire EDT built in about
1992-3, and have been told that 18 of those were made in the 90's, but, it wasn't Roland who told me, and so, I have no way of knowing whether that was an accurate number. I also understand that there were even fewer (7-9?) of the f/7 variety made, which makes it even more valuable. You've really got to look through one of these under dark skies to appreciate Roland's brilliant handiwork and loving craftsmanship. I once asked him why he'd discontinued making them and he told me it had simply become too difficult and nerve wracking. He's scour the world for the perfect glass he needed, then lavish all his powers upon the blanks, and, at the end of a long and grueling process, still have one in five fail to meet his demanding standards. Clear skies! "Rich N." wrote in message ... How many Astro-Physics 180EDTs were made in the 1990s? Hi Geoff,
Thanks very much. I had heard 11 of the AP180EDFs (180 mm f/7) were made in the '90s. However, that is not from AP, so I'm not sure about the accuracy of the number. I had thought quite a few more of the f/9 EDTs were made. If I remember correctly, mine shipped from AP late October of 1996. I'm not sure if that was the last production run. I'll give AP a call. Maybe they won't mind giving out that information. Clear skies, Rich Geoff wrote in message . ..
