Not a big deal, but I noticed on Heavens above that two Iridium Flares
were predicted for my location here in West-Central Iowa very close together in time and space... 9:36:18 a -1 mag one at 52 degrees alt, 90 degrees az 9:37:34 a -6 mag one at 54 degrees alt, 91 degrees az I ran out to take a look. A nice clear, cool, evening. The first one was quite visible on it's approach, much more than usual, and it's flare was nice, but of course, not spectacular. The second was less visible on it's approach, but DAZZLING as it flared just inside the tip of Cygnus' Eastern Wing. OK, not a big deal, but fun. ![]() casual time out later just stargazing. Very nice night... feels almost like Fall. ![]() Marty |
