Default The Earth - for physicists

" Due to the tilt" indeed, the role of tilt is far more interesting
when assigned its rightful influence in determining planetary
characteristics between equatorial and polar conditions with the
Earth's traits strongly towards the equatorial end of the spectrum.

The day and night cycle is due to daily rotation and the seasonal
cycle is due to the Earth's orbital motion and not its tilt insofar as
the idea of variable tilt is perhaps one of the two weak points
Copernicus made in presenting the spectacular effects of planetary
dynamics, epicycle being the other. The 21st century modification is
strictly a consequence of the power of modern imaging and the truly
remarkable convenience which is the planet Uranus and its
characteristics of polar tilt and the equatorial rings to make it all
reasonable easy to understand.

So Sam,in this thread, you got a partial lesson by looking into
history and how the 24 hour day and the calendar system was created as
a single unit and while I previously said there were four short
sequences of reasoning to arrive at the system with use today and have
used for thousands of years, there are actually five in total. You are
also looking at the future in the ability to make planetary
comparisons and even solar system comparisons (Formalhaut) to arrive
at a better understanding of the Earth's planetary dynamics and its
climatological,geological and other effects.

Looking at how you place significance to the rotation of the
constellations in terms of 'sidereal time' and specifically daily
rotation, you do not stand a chance of enjoying how the 24 hour day and
the calendar system was put together in antiquity which is why I have
been unkind to the geostatic astrologers and the ancient societies
who supported its emergence to the reasoning of one unknown genius.
