There are many currently writing about cosmological modeling via the
'scientific method' and while most naturally assume that this is an extension of the original astronomical approach of known astronomers (Copernicus,Kepler,Galileo ect),this view is entirely fictional and bad for astronomy and for the wider population who must rely on honesty in cellestial/terrestrial matters. Far from being a complicated affair, the core of the problem is fairly straightforward to point out and it exists not in some conceptual backwater but in the main argument for heliocentricity as proposed by Copernicus and understood in like form by Kepler who refined it and Galileo who affirmed it using a telescope. The approach Newton took was introducing a hypothetical approach to the resolution of retrogrades by robbing the original insight of its resolution by direct observation and the original statement by Newton in introducing the empirical agenda is shocking by any standards - "It is indeed a matter of great difficulty to discover, and effectually to distinguish, the true motion of particular bodies from the apparent; because the parts of that absolute space, in which those motions are performed, do by no means come under the observation of our senses. Yet the thing is not altogether desperate; for we have some arguments to guide us, partly from the apparent motions, which are the differences of the true motions; partly from the forces, which are the causes and effects of the true motion. " http://members.tripod.com/~gravitee/...tions.htm#time Modern imaging allows people the opportunity to see how our orbital motion is derived from direct observation and particularly the realisation that apparent retrograde motion is actually the Earth overtaking the other planets in our and their common orbit around the central Sun - http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ima...2000_tezel.gif With no hypothetical observer on the Sun required or a hypothetical 'absolute' space needed to resolve the apparent retrograde motions, the creation of empirical ' modeling' or the use of 'forces' to account for phenomena is bordering on systematic fraud as it comes at the expense of the great Western astronomical heritage - "For to the earth planetary motions appear sometimes direct, sometimes stationary, nay, and sometimes retrograde. But from the sun they are always seen direct,..." Newton It may be that intellectual greed is every bit as insidious as financial greed, even more so,as it exploits the trust which humanity grants to investigators of terrestrial/celestial phenomena for no other reason than to give the best answers to causes and effects. The empiricist will not acknowledge the wrongdoing ,manipulation or mistake by Newton even when observational data is presented to show that there is a level of intellectual bankruptcy present that requires just as much attention as any other human endeavor. .. |
