Default Quite embarrasing telescope enquiry.

I bought a new 76 mm reflector telescope, and have just assembled it.
The night sky is clear tonight in England, and I went outside to use
it. This is the embarrasing part, when I looked through either of the
2 lenses, I could not see any stars at all, just complete blackness. I
have obviously taken the covers off the 2 small lenses (which are
attached to the main body of the telescope), but the front of the main
telescope body still has the black cover on it. I don't understand how
light is meant to enter the telescope. Can anyone explain what I've
done wrong?
Thanks and bye.

Thanks for the tip Saul, but I unscrewed the black cover on the main
telescope body (I think this was wrong, since the back of the cover had
a mirror attached to it), and when I took the telescope out last
night, I still couldn't see anything through it.
PLEASE someone help me,because the night sky in England is so clear
right now, that it'd be a big shame to miss viewing it.
Thanks and bye.

Yes, that's the wrong end. How about aligning the mirrors?
