Default Televue 2"-1¼" Adapter

I will possibly not be needing the 2 inch "rear gate" at the TeleVue 76 or
perhaps 85 I´m looking for (at dealer´s websites).
Will adapters such as "ACR-2125 2"-1¼" Adapter, HiHat"
http://www.televue.com/engine/ProductImagePop.asp?ItemCode=ACR-2125&ItemDesc=2"-1¼"%20Adapter,%20HiHat
fit directly into the thread of the focuser, or it is designed for a
diagonal ?
The 2" diagonal with 1 1/4" adapter seems to bulky, at least for the 76er.

I have an older-style TV-85, without the improved focuser that has all of
the locking screws. The HiHat adapter fits a standard 2" diagonal and also
directly into the focuser. AFAIK, the contemporaneous production TV-76s
have what looks like the identical focuser, and therefore I'd expect the TV
adapter to fit directly into the focuser.
