While reading Scott Carpenter's wonderful autobiography "For spacious skies"
I noticed an interesting comment on page 312 of the hardbound copy. Commenting on the safety record of US manned space exploration at the time of the Mercury program, Scott writes: "The Soviets had an abominable safety record. To this day it's not clear how many cosmonauts, researchers. and technicians died in space-related work." Giovanni www.lostcosmonauts.com |

Agreed. Still, in flight casualties do qualify as space-related.

If someone has an address for Scott Carpenter, someone could ask him if he
was referring to the cosmonauts' rumors. By the way, for those who are interested, a book was recently published in Italy about this subject and a biographical book by the Judica Cordiglia brothers is due for publication before Christmas. Peace, Giovanni PS: Carpenter's book is a "must read" for anyone interested in early space exploration. Well, it's certainly a nice try, but space *related* does not mean died *IN* space. |

Of course, if you suffer a devastating reentr----I meant, car accident,
China is the place to go! I just love the boiled Turtle legs! Giovanni (who taught radar to Chinese pilots in the Navy air base in Shanghai, more than once). "Pat Flannery" wrote in message ...
