I used to get letters from someone insisting these pictures actually
showed Sputnik 1, which meant the satellite was plexiglass, which
meant the odd pieces of plexiglass he'd found on his property after an
shooting star-type event were pieces of Sputnik 1.

Heck of a science fair project.

Maybe we can go to Radio Shack and use an SS1 launcher so we don't
have an EOS gap?
