Last night I was blessed with another clear night. There was a lot of

and it was up high most of the night, but I was using Ha and [OIII]

filters
so I wasn't too worried about it; I was just happy to have a clear sky

after
all the rain we've had recently.

I took some more data for the Cone project and began taking some

exposures
of Thor's Helmet in Ha and [OIII].

I did not get but one hour's worth of Ha for Thor but did assemble it

into a
sample shot: sort of an early look-see at what may be in store.

Hi Richard,

Gorgeous picture of one of my favourite objects! I remember panning
through a patch of space with my old 8" Discovery dob three years ago
and thinking I may have seen a slight brightening of the sky. I
dropped a UHC filter between my eye and the EP, and was struck by a
"wow" moment.

Thanks for the shot!

Hi Craig.

Thanks for the comments. Thor's helmet is easily overlooked but is a very
nice object. There is a lot of interesting nebulosity in it and also nearby.
I am happy you enjoyed the shot. I hope to take more [OIII] and [SII] data
soon to make a tricolor image of it soon. Unfortunately the past two nights
were predicted to be clear but were not and the next two nights are
predicted to be raining. Maybe in a week or so?
