An amazing 52F at 6:48 PM on January 4, 2012 here in Cedar Mills,
Oregon. *Cloudy skies with light occasional showers. *Not much wind.
Winter has seemingly bee put on hold for now.

Getting through the holidays was a challenge for me as a homeless
person, and I am glad they are finally over, and my usual places of
shelter have returned to normal hours.

Early this morning a woman I did not recogniize woke me up and ask if
I was hungry. *I replied that I was. *She gave me a hot egg, sausage,
and cheese Starbucks sandwich, and a piece of cake to go with it.
That was nice.

On the other hand, a woman whom I do know gave me a peice of turkey
ham that made me sick for almost a week! *I need to be more careful
what I eat.

Kim is doing fine as always and we still have lunch together
everyday. *Today Andy gave me a free bus all day transfer pass, and
here I am at the Cedar Mills Library.

But my computer time is running out. *Hope you all had happy holidays.

Double-A

Happy hallidays to you. *Weather here in Easthampton no snow since
that freak storm in October. Today in the low 40s lots of Sun.Making a
power ice boat using my electric DC outboard. It will skim across the
ice very fast, and safe. Ice on ice has very little fliction, and no
drag. It proves the laws of inertia. *I will call it the "Glazier ice
Skimmer."Might go so fast I'll need air brakes" Have an invention for
ice shoes.to help getting to children that fall though the ice fast.
Time is every thing when you fall into ice water. *TreBert

37F here in the greater Beaverton-Hillsboro area. *Calm, cloudy,
raining. *Last night was dry and frosty. *Saw Orion, Sirius, and the
moon in the sky over my head. *Expect clear, cool, but not cold,
weather the next few days.

Holes in ice are like black holes. *If you get too close to then,
there is no escape. *Many people have drowned themselfs trying to pull
somebody out of a hole in the ice!

Bought a bunch of nuts in the shell at clearance prices at Safeway.
But had to argue to get the prices on the shelf. *When I actually went
back to point the prices out to them, someone had alread pulled the
prices off the shelf, all the evidence gone! *When I went to customer
service, the lady was very accomodating and gave me the prices best I
could remember them. *They are very cooperative when the get caught in
one of their little price scams. *Most people would never notice the
overcharge it at the till when buying a bunch of other groceries.
Just before the Rose Bowl they were trying to sell trays with about $5
of cheese cubes on them for $49.00! *Nice try, Safeway, but nobody
bit! *Lean, mean, and hihilistic stores can survive in a hard
economy.

Speaking of the Rose Bowl, Oregon Ducks 45, Wisconson Badgers 38!

Double-A

No ice here in Easthampton *Today it hit 50 Easthampton is
mountains, hills ponds lakes and the big Conn. River. It must look a
lot like where you live AA * *Has great places to eat. Sunday I had
two lobsters for 22 bucks. It was in Chickapee, nect to Holyoke.Jusy
oiver Mount Tom. That's the reason for so many arrowheads I have
found. *The streets here are only good for horses. * * TreBert

43F here in Hillsboro. *Cloudy skies. *Not raining, but rained last
evening. *No wind. *65% humidity. *Forecast is for freezing temps the
next few nights. *Have to be sure I have my chemical hand warmers.

Been eating a lot of soup lately with Kim. *Hot clam chowder is out
favorite for this kind of weather. *A lady came out of Starbucks and
told us her bankruptcy filing went through smoothly. *Now she can
start over. *Another furniture store here is closing and having their
clearance salle. *Work on the new Wallmart grocery store right next to
my locker is continuing. *When that opens, it should drive a lot more
local businesses into bankruptcy!

Got a free bus pass from Andy. *He got a free monthly bus pass that
somebody lost in the library! *Now he'll be riding all over town for
the rest of this month.

Heart that Eastman Kodac is on the verge of chapter 11. *The Japanese
beat them at the camera game, but they still had their film. *But now
cameras don't need film anymore! *So where does that leave Kodac?

Glad all my money's on the sideline.
Good day to you AA
Have a good day, Bert.

Double-A

Good day to you. Wallmarts are spaced out about 10 miles from each
other. Target is their only competition. Wallmart *sells a cooked
chicken for 488,and that's 3 bucks cheaper than Big E. Arrnalds rye
bread Wallmart 299 *Big E 468 etc * Weather here in Easthampton 49F
and sunny.Finished my iceboat, and to warm for lakes to freeze. *Things
could be worse I could be in Texas * *TreBert-

Sounds comptitive with WinCo on the chicken. *Safeway ususually
charges 7.49, but there are sales. *Can'r believe tney just increased
the price of 20 "buffallo wings" to 8.99. *A lot of prices have been
going up by as much as 50% lately at Safeway. *Hard to see why this is
when my SS check only increased by 4%. *But minimum wage is going up
here in Oregon, so nearly everyone at Safeway gets a raise!

Double-A

Safeway is currently spending perhaps hundreds of millions on upgrades
and re-re-modelings that'll knock your socks off, and of course we
always get to pay for all of that, just like we get to pay for
everything BP screwed up. Safeway's new and improved look is making
Las Vegas seem like a dim bulb, and I bet their new utility bills for
electric and gas energy is nearly doubling per new/replacement store.
They're doing all of this because just like Big Energy sticking it to
us, they really don't care how much food is going to cost the rest of
us.
