Mortgages shouldn't be hard to get, but they shouldn't be given out to those who can't pay them back.

I view those as the same thing. As well as sensible lending rules. No
mortgages without 20-25% down. No mortgages that require payments in
excess of 25% or 30% of income. No terms longer than 15 years.
