Walmart promised me a $10 kickback if I started using their card. I just got my second credit statement, and still no $10 credit!!!

Yes. They give money to people who can set up an automatic monthly deposit into an account, such as from SS. Kim as yet has such source of money to regularly deposit.

Kim had trouble this week trying to use her credit card to put another month's bus pass on her TriMet HOP card at Fred Meyer. The monthly pass, usually $100, under a recent policy is now available to the verifiably poor at the same price as it is to seniors, $28. But the Fred Meyer store would not let her use the credit card for that unless she put $100 or more credit on the HOP card. I also heard that Fred Meyer stores in CA are going to refuse to take VISA cards soon because they say that fees that VISA charges the stores is too high!
