One of the books which keeps being mentioned intermittently is the
voluminous /International Reference Guide to Space Launch Systems/;
currently in its third (1999) edition. I've encountered a moderately
priced s/h copy of the second edition (1995), which is enticing me;
after some checking, I found a couple of interesting details.

The second edition is listed as 341pp.; the third as 350pp..

The third edition is 549 page long. This should also answer your
second question.
