Look up Supersymmetrical theories in Physics, things like Kaluza-Klein
as an example. The feeling amongst Physicists is that General
Relativity and The Standard Model of Particle Physics/QED/QCD should
be expressed as special cases of one theory or super symmetrical force
force. This one force would have only existed during the Big Bang. It
may even explain why the Big Bang occurred.

This is a very active and ongoing field of research in modern
theoretical physics. Small headway was made by Unifying the weak
nuclear and EM forces in the Electroweak field. This was
experimentally verified by the detection in Vector Bosons in the 80's.
