When NASA discovers the Earth is round and rotating with an equatorial
circumference of 24901.5 miles and turning at rate of 15 degrees or
1037.5 miles per hour then they can begin to present themselves as as
astronomical organization and while a satellite is an engineering
feat, people do like to know what the basic planetary facts surrounding
a round and rotating Earth are.,as an organization, represent knowledge
and all that is good about the celestial and terrestrial arenas and
where they mesh.

No point being a third rate organization when they can lead the way
out of a mess like no other for then and only then can they
