Gas planets are just immature brown dwarfs. Those rings are where
other solid planets and/or natural moons would have eventually formed
if the brown dwarf were more substantial to begin with. The solids in
that outer most ring will likely turn out to be carbon/carbonado and
perhaps even some iron and a few other common minerals from those
captured moons.
