Thanks Richard, in fact the chip i use is a Sony ICX083 same as used in
the starlight xpress serie 916.
The mount can handle longer exposures time but this evening i had a lot of
trouble with the transparacy of the sky.
So i hope to collect more info coming days, but that's also a big question
mark because it looks like the autumn has come early this year with lots
of clouds and rain.....

I like your version of the eagle. did you also get a closeup of the
pilars?

nice

I recommend taking longer subexposures if your mount can handle it Dirk

The KAF3200ME you are using (correct?) can handle a lot more signal than
you are getting in 90 seconds through an Halpha filter

you will get much nicer detail in the background if you do that.

For a 10" SCT even at f/6.3 you need at a minimum 3-5 hours of exposure
time if you really want to get the detail and have a smooth image.

here is one i took a few nights ago: it is 7 x 20 minutes at f/7.2
roughly

HI all,
Here a quick shot of the centre of the eagle nebula.
10 x 90 sec
H-Alpha filter
10" SCT.
Homebuild CCD cam cooled to -14degr.
the sky wasn't that clear (lot of moisture which makes the stars
bigger).
Will try again with more transparent sky.
Processing was done in Maxim and CS3
thanks for looking,
