Trump has called for a joint session of Congress on February 28 this year to discuss important national needs. This is the same tactic used by Eisenhower when he formed NASA, by Kennedy when he announced sending men to the moon and returning them safely to the Earth, by Reagan when he announced the Strategic Defense Initiative.

So, there is a likelihood that Trump will announce a long term strategic vision for the future, with short term practical benefit to the nation. This includes;

(1) NASA support of commercialisation of chemical rocket technologies that support
(a) peaceful ballistic terrestrial transport of packages and people,
(b) peaceful transport to orbit and back,
(i) orbital hotels,
(ii) orbital communications,
(iii) orbiting power systems,
(iv) orbital sensing,
(c) cislunar orperations,
(d) inner solar system operations,
(2) NASA research to develop
(a) outer solar system manned presence by 2030
(b) near interstellar probes by 2030
(c) survey of planetary systems out to 10,000 light years by 2030
(3) Long term development of;
(a) commercialisation of outer solar system resources, by 2050
(b) manned presence to nearby stars, by 2050
(c) probes to stars beyond 50 light years, by 2050
(d) commercilisation of nearby stars by 2100,
(e) manned presence to stars beyond 50 light years by 2100
