Perhaps scanning at FTL is actually what aether that's everywhere is
all about.
You see (pun intended), photons are everywhere at the same time, as
well as all of the time, though mostly inactive until acted upon or
triggered, just like how electrons can be triggered to do exactly as
we tell them or expect of them to do.
