We wouldn't have built may airplanes either if you couldn't:
A. Use them to aid in killing people.
B. Make a buck off of them.
Now if Buzz had been there, things would have been different.
He would have danced with most of the members of congress, then brought
in his pet chimpanzee, "Moonwatcher" who would present each of the
congress members with a small model of Phobos with a tiny black monolith
on it.
After that, they would know what to do.
After the chimp's bullet riddled and lifeless body was dragged from the
chamber and Buzz was safely in the custody of the police, Neil's
testimony would seem like the height of rationality and most sage
advice. I suggested this outside-the-box strategy to NASA last week,
but the hidebound fools would have none of it.
