It is probably already known what they are. In many cases, multi-band
photometry can give a good estimate of the identity and even the
redshift.

Telescope time is highly competitive; spectroscopy requires more time.
As other replies in this thread indicate, there is probably a lot of
information at your fingertips. Without experience (or collaboration
with someone with experience), the chances are zero, even if the targets
are interesting. In this case, it is probably obvious to experts what
they are. Sometimes, something isn't mentioned because it is obscure.
