Not sure what your point is, but 5G should help conserve battery life on mobile devices. Unfortunately, mobile app developers will then find ways to create even more inefficient, energy-hog apps that suck up even more battery juice.

How would 5G conserve energy?

The access points can be or will eventually be closer together, so that a phone will use less electricity while receiving and transmitting.

Roaming uses much power, but it is supposed to be more efficient with 5G. With an old battery this extra energy use is easier to notice, you probably can't help but notice it.

More of the processing can take place on the network side, saving electricity on the phone side.

Mobile phones are all ready energy hogs, need bigger batteries to run them.
Some of the newer mobiles need 5 amp battery, when my old Nokia needed just 800 milliamps battery and charging every 2-3 days, all most did the same job as the new mobiles.
Big 5-6" high res screen eats up battery, 'cause kids like to play games.

You usually have to take the phone apart to change batteries, but a better system would be main batteries that can be easily swapped maybe even hot-swappable. External batteries are another idea, but are bulky, and the cables add another point of failure.

While back, Russian guy showed a new design phone with dual screen, one screen use iNK technology.
When the phone battery gets low, it can switch to the INK screen and would still run for many hours.
Color screen uses lot of power.
