Wrong. Please stop repeating this myth.

The ET had foam problems from STS-1.

And in any rate, the bipod ramp WAS the old foam.

Not too many foam problems prior to making the
switch. Hell, shuttle launches are not exactly eco-friendly, might as
well get them up and down in one piece!
