The struggle must have been epic. It takes a superhero or even a divine creature to be able to convince the world that, as the observer starts moving towards the light source, the wavecrests start hitting him more frequently but their speed relative to him remains constant. Ordinary humans see the opposite - it is the varying speed that causes the frequency to shift:
